Happy 11-11-11 Day! First of all, please take time on this Veterans Day to salute today the men and women who have served and sacrified as members of the Armed Forces. Their contributions to this country are immeasurable.
Also today, I went on "KARE 11 Today" (NBC-TV) to review films with co-host Diana Pierce and help the station celebrate 11-11-11 with a special movie list. Among my reviews is the Clint Eastwood-directed biopic "J. Edgar," new today in theaters nationwide. The film has its faults, but there's no question that Leonardo DiCaprio is stellar in his portrayal of controversial FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, and in all likelihood will be nominated for a Best Actor Oscar. Other performers that are sure to contend for Oscar nominations are Armie Hammer as Hoover's constant companion and FBI No. 2 Clyde Tolson; Judi Dench as Hoover's controlling mother and Naomi Watts as Hoover's longtime secretary and gatekeeper of his secret files, Helen Gandy.
My video pick of the week is "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows -- Part 2" and in honor of 11-11-11, the station asked me to talk about my 11 all-time favorite films. Naturally, I was amped up to talk about one of my all-time faves, the classic rock mock documentary "This is Spinal Tap" and more!
